Speaker Bio: Chef Violeta Trujeque, a native of Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico, has always had a deep-rooted connection to the world of baking. Growing up in a family of bakery entrepreneurs, she developed a passion for gastronomy at an early age. This led her to pursue her dreams, and she enrolled in the renowned Instituto Culinario de México in Puebla, Puebla, where she graduated with a degree in the culinary arts.
Shortly after completing her studies at ICUM, Violeta embarked on a remarkable journey in the culinary industry. She secured a position as a sub chef at a prestigious chocolate company in Mexico City, where she provided valuable technical support to local bakeries, assisting them in mastering the art or working with tempered chocolate to create intricate and decorative pieces.
Driven by her entrepreneurial spirit, Violeta eventually established her own bakery, named Violeta: Pasteles Personalizados. With a specialization in fondant cakes, she became a trailblazer in her hometown, introducing a unique and personalized touch to the world of confectionery.
Years later, seeking new horizons, Violeta made her way to Texas, where she pursued further education and sharpened her skills in English language studies. During this time, she gained invaluable experience working for renowned bakeries, adding to her repertoire of baking techniques and culinary knowledge.
Now settled in Chicago, Violeta’s culinary journey continues to flourish. Building upon her accumulated expertise, she ventured into the realm of teaching and sharing her culinary wisdom. With the unwavering support of her husband and the guidance of her Business Adviser from WBDC (Women’s Business Development Center), she embarked on a new chapter in her professional life, establishing her own business called Violet Velvet Cooking Classes LLC.
As a passionate advocate of sharing knowledge and experiences, Violeta found her true calling as a cooking and baking instructor. Throughout the pandemic, she adapted to the virtual world, offering engaging and interactive classes via Zoom, collaborating with libraries in Chicago to reach a wider audience. Today, she exclusively conducts in-person cooking classes through the libraries, driven by her desire to provide the community with opportunities to learn new dishes, explore diverse culinary techniques, and delve into the rich tapestry of global cuisine cultures and traditions.
Chef Violeta Trujeque’s remarkable journey exemplifies her dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to the culinary arts. Through her expertise and warm teaching style, she continues to inspire and empower aspiring chefs and home cooks, creating a lasting impact in the world of food and fostering a love for cooking that transcends borders.
