Speaker Bio: William Birk is president of the Oak Forest Numismatic Society.
Bill has collected coins, paper money, and other numismatic items for over 70 years. He has given hundreds of talks on his favorite hobby at schools, libraries, clubs, and many other groups. Bill is the current president of the Oak Forest Numismatic Society and vice-president, education for the Will County Coin Club. He also writes a monthly coin column for the Oak Leaf. Bill was recognized by the Illinois Numismatic Association with the Ralph C Winquist Memorial Award for his service to the collecting community. A retired school district 146 teacher, Bill last taught at Cental Middle School. He also plays tournament bridge, holding the rank of Bronze Life Master. Bill teaches chess and volunteers at his local church. This will be Bill's third time talking about numismatics at the Tinley Park Public Library.
