The Bread Monk is coming to the library! Join us as Father Dominic presents breads featured in or inspired by literature. Includes cooking demo, recipes, and samples. Signup required.
Father Dominic the Bread Monk says he got his culinary education between his mother’s kitchen, PBS, and the public library. Join us for his program presenting breads featured in or inspired by literature. He demonstrates how to make Winnie the Pooh’s honey nut buns, as well as corn sticks in a cast iron pan inspired by the Little House on the Prairie series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. He’ll talk about the role of Victorian seed cakes in books as diverse as Ulysses by James Joyce, The Hobbit, the writings of Jane Austen and steamy Victorian romance novels, and offer a taste of a modern version that uses yellow cake mix. Lastly he’ll let you sample his “I Love A Mystery Bread” and try to guess the secret ingredient. Join us for books and breads at the library! Signup begins on April 15.
